A message from the Founder

Hello and welcome!

Here’s a bit about my journey and goals:

As a child, I was captivated by martial arts, watching masters perform with effortless movement, speed, and technique. I wondered where these nearly magical skills came from. After some time, I began my training in 1988 while in college, starting with Shotokan Karate and Uechi Ryu. Later, I trained in Jeet Kune Do and Wing Chun Kung Fu. It didn’t take long for Wing Chun to become my foundation; its deep simplicity was both inspiring and practical.

I was fortunate to train for many years in NYC’s Chinatown, learning from some of the best, including direct students of Ip Man. It was an honor to be part of the second generation of Ip Man students.

Over time, my focus expanded to include modern combative theory, emphasizing de-escalation, preemption, and reality-driven street tactics, as well as managing the body’s natural responses under stress. While many traditional schools emphasize techniques and forms, they often neglect real-world pressure and fail to teach how to apply the system under duress. Core drills and forms are essential, but if students don’t experience applying them under pressure in an “alive” manner, they become ineffective.

This led me to develop a training system that combines the core principles of Ip Man’s Wing Chun with modern combative strategies for real-world self-defense, including HAVs (High-Intensity Violence). In short, we teach Evidence-Based Defense. Wing Chun’s focus on practical, close-range encounters is incredibly effective when paired with mental preparation, stress management, and adaptability—critical for handling real-world chaos and violence. My goal is to ensure students are not just prepared to “play fight”—they’re prepared to survive real attacks.

We are not a large, commercial school that focuses on volume; instead, we offer small group training at reasonable prices, teaching classical Kung Fu in a modern context. If this approach resonates with you, I encourage you to register.
